In the seemingly endless supply of news surrounding Michael Jackson, I was amazed yet again by a new piece of news. Apparently, the city of Los Angeles wants to honor MJ with a 3.4 million dollar memorial and they've set up a web site and a fund for people to donate to. I'm certain there are enough idol worshipers to give some money to this, but it will fall way short of the money needed. The city of LA will then fork up the rest in a city strapped by debt already and in a state with over a 20 billion dollar deficit in their state budget. Does this make any sense at all? Of course not. Perhaps I'll be wrong and many Hollywood stars will step up to make this happen, but don't count on it. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27-28: "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation." The true object of our affection should be on the one who lived, died and was raised on the third day to provide us with eternal salvation. This tribute to Michael in the form of a memorial will rust, fade, corrode and eventually be forgotten so turn your eyes to One truly worth of praise.
